Cover your table with a blanket
Lay some bubble wrap on your table
Place the picture on the bubble wrap
Keep rolling your picture in bubble wrap until it’s fully covered
Tear off the bubble wrap and seal with tape - it may seem like a lot of bubble wrap but they will be well protected
Next find a box that’s slightly bigger than your picture and leave the box flattened
Seal it along one edge using plenty of tape so you created a cardboard sleeve
Slide your picture into the cardboard sleeve and then seal the remaining edge - your picture is then protected by bubble wrap and the strong cardboard cover
This technique also works for mirrors of a similar size
You can get wider bubble wrap or we often use export wrap which is similar but even more protective
Using export wrap, wrap your large picture like you would a present, making sure that the folds when you tuck in each end are taped down at the back of the picture
You may find for larger pictures it’s a two-person job, at least to get start with
You can then wrap larger pictures in cardboard or check with your mover if they can bring a picture-carrying bag to add to your bubble-wrap layer
We use these picture bags regularly and they are reusable and have a number of layers which are padded and quilted and make sure pictures don’t knock against each other – we find these are the best way to move large pictures
You can use a standard box filled with scrunched packing paper at the bottom and then wrap each picture in plenty of paper
Make sure your box is filled up with paper or a cushion that you’re moving works well at the top of the box too
You could also use bubble wrap for this process
Seal the box and mark it as ‘fragile’
