Van Man Removals and Storage is proud to be an accredited Living Wage Employer and this week we are celebrating Living Wage Week.
The real Living Wage is independently calculated based on rising living costs including fuel, energy, rent and food and is significantly higher than the national minimum wage.
In actual fact very few of our team are earning just the Living Wage – most are earning more – but it means for new starters there is a good benchmark to come in on and start their removals career with us, and we hope demonstrates our values as a business, committed to fairness.
Mike Bradley, Van Man Removals and Storage’s founder and director said: “Living Wage Week is a great opportunity to spread the word about the Living Wage and get more employers to sign up.”
“We are Devon’s only removals company to be an accredited Living Wage employer and would love others to join us!” he added.
This Living Wage week (14-20 Nov 2022) the Living Wage Foundation’s latest research shows that wider adoption of the real Living Wage could provide a vital economic boost to the UK economy. If just a quarter of those earning below the Living Wage saw their pay rise to the real Living Wage, the increase in wages, productivity and spending would deliver £1.7 billion pounds back into the UK economy.
With households across the UK facing a cost-of-living crisis, and economic growth stagnant, today’s research shows how a real Living Wage could tackle both, and support a high-growth, high-wage economy.
Other Living Wage accredited companies include housebuilders Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon Homes, and big names such as Everton Football Club, insurer Aviva, luxury goods brand Burberry and the Nationwide building society.
So if you want to entrust your house move, removals or storage to a trusted mover who rewards their staff fairly, then please contact Van Man Removals and Storage for a quote.
